Profile: Born on 5th September 1973 to Mr. Radhey Shyam Sharma & Mrs Manju Sharma in Deoband, UP. His parents are from Academic background. Anurag along with his parents moved to Roorkee where he got his formal education. He is an IITian with a mellifluous voice.
He is currently based in Mumbai and works as South Asia Head for a multinational. Had formal education in Roorkee, also did BE from IIT Roorkee, and joined Tatas in 1996. He has also holds an MBA degree from NMIMS, Mumbai.
He gave his first stage performance at the tender age of four. Henceforth his parents identified his talent and felt the need of formal training in Classical Music.He have grown up listening to Ghazals from Masters of the art like Ghulam Ali, Mehdi Hassan and Jagjit Singh and they have all inspired him to venture in this field in the long run.
His training in Classical Music started at the age of seven under the seasoned guidance of Late Ustaad Jameel Ahmed Khan Saheb of Roorkee. The inputs continued till the untimely demise of Ustaadji in 1993. Khan Saheb disseminated almost all the aspects of Gayaki, traversing from Traditional Khayal gayaki, thumri and finally bhajans and ghazals. Apart from the various attributes which all these Streams have the most important which unifies them all is the bhaav or the feeling which is like the atman of any art form. And it is this bhaav which was the integral part of Khan Saheb’s gayaki. After learning the intricacies of classical music Anurag mainly concentrated on the ghazal gayaki and light music including film songs.

Won the award of Best Male Singer award in the prestigious Saregama on Zee network, which was aired from Oct’00 – Jan’01. Was adjudged winner by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Begum Abida Parveen also won the Most popular performer (Viewers Choice ) . Participated & won in the Megafinals of Saregama, an event in which the winners of past three years participated. Out of 12 male participants, Was declared winner by a panel of Judges comprising of greatest musicians and artists of their times, (Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, OP Nayar, Dr.L.Subramanium , Kavita KrishnaMurthy, Bappi Lahiri).
