Profile: Born in Azamgarh (U.P.), Manoj Yadav moved to Mumbai at the time it was still known as Bombay. The education and the atmosphere of a big city at an early age exposed Manoj to the world of stories through television and emotions through songs, and soon was in love with poetry and storytelling in various forms. And then began the quest to find a meaning to every word sung on screen by Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. But found the meaning to his own life in the words and writings of Gulzar Sahab. His true calling as a lyricist/songwriter revealed itself after he heard songs penned by his idol.
He learned to walk this new path by practicing his writing skills through rhymes and songs for private events, jingles and stage plays. With his new found skill set, patience and confidence, Manoj went ahead to write for various pop, classical, devotional and new age artists without the much needed encouragement through regular releases. But when his hard work and perseverance started to pay off, opportunities started coming his way.
